Electronics is the strongest Boxing Day category — and the most time-pressured. Currys dominates for TVs, driven by a structural reason: new TV lineups land at CES in January, which means Currys needs to clear outgoing models. That clearance pressure produces real discounts, particularly on large-screen OLEDs. Amazon runs the rest of electronics through Lightning Deals: rotating, time-limited offers where Prime members get 30 minutes of early access. The best deals clear in under an hour. If you go in without a shortlist, you’ll miss them.

Best retailers for electronics at Boxing Day

Currys is the right choice for TVs. The Boxing Day sale is stronger than Black Friday for large-screen OLEDs — LG C-series and Sony A-series both feature at their annual price lows. Currys’ price match policy applies during the sale, which reduces some of the timing pressure. Amazon covers everything else. Echo, Kindle, Ring, and Fire TV reach their deepest discounts of the year at Boxing Day — Amazon subsidises the hardware intentionally. Coffee machines, cordless vacuums, and large headphones are also strong. Lightning Deals refresh throughout the day. AO is the strongest option for large domestic appliances — washing machines, fridge-freezers, and dishwashers. Less time-pressured than TVs; stock depth is greater. Argos is worth checking for budget TVs and mid-range tech in the £50–£250 range. Own-brand Bush and Alba TVs see sharp clearance pricing. John Lewis is strongest for Dyson and premium audio. The returns policy — two years on most electrical items — is the main differentiator over Currys or Amazon.

What to look for

TVs: Previous-year flagship OLEDs are the standout Boxing Day buy. LG C-series and Sony A-series in 55” and 65” are the targets. Focus on OLED — the price-per-panel economics are strongest here, and Boxing Day discounts on OLED consistently beat Black Friday. Laptops: Previous-generation M-series MacBooks and Windows laptops in the RTX 4060 tier are where value appears. Mid-tier gaming laptops have historically dropped 10–15% at Boxing Day. Gaming hardware: Console bundles over standalone hardware — manufacturers protect hardware pricing, so the value appears in bundles with games included. See the gaming deals page for full detail. Over-ear headphones: Sony WH-1000XM series and Bose QuietComfort feature consistently. These are products with stable prices that drop meaningfully at Boxing Day. What does not discount well: Current-generation iPhone and Apple Watch. Current-season gaming peripherals. Anything released in Q4 2026 — if it launched in the autumn, Boxing Day is too soon for a meaningful price cut.

When to shop

Amazon Lightning Deals are the most time-pressured part of Boxing Day. The strongest laptop and headphone deals typically clear in under an hour. Have your priority list ready before Christmas Day. Prime membership gives 30 minutes of early access — worthwhile if you’re spending above the membership cost. Currys TV stock in popular sizes (55” and 65” OLED) moves fast in the first two hours of the sale. Go online at midnight or in-store before 8am. Headphones, AO appliances, and Argos budget tech are less urgent. Stock is deeper and the event runs into the following week. These categories do not require a midnight alarm.
